...taking the best from the past for the future...
The aim of the eat.retro project was to find out whether traditional fayre can help promote a healthy way to eat to the current generation of secondary school children and caterers.
The research was carried out by EATdot Limited, in association with Medway Community College, in response to the Government's Healthy Lifestyle Blueprint for Schools and White Paper - Choosing Health...
The results of our experiment suggest that it is possible to change the way in which school dinners are delivered and to influence choice at the counter - but only with support from both the Caterer, Parents and the School Governing Body.
Within the Report, we have set out a number of recommendations that exist for schools and their caterers to maximise the opportunity to effect both long and short term change.
