EATdot Menus

One of the biggest media issues this year has been the standard of food at schools, which has led parents to ask some serious questions about the catering provision at their child's school. In many cases, schools are already providing excellent, balanced meals. However, this is not the case in all schools and the pressure is on to take some drastic action.

Every term we provide schools with two four week menu cycles that have been developed in association with School Catering Managers. However, EATdot schools have total autonomy over menus and may change them to allow for local preferences.

All our client schools receive the two menus on a CD each term with a recipe for every dish. These dishes are tested by our development team to ensure the food tastes great and can be produced for the right value for money.

EATdot have been at the forefront of developing new menus for schools that not only meet current Government guidelines but exceed them.

In February this year we launched our "blueprint" menus, which are entirely home produced, nutritionally balanced and can be produced for just a small percentage more than a standard school's menu. They comply with Government Nutritional Guidelines and the Caroline Walker Trust by:

  • limiting processed potato products to onece a week...
  • including fresh fruit and vegetables daily...
  • being 100% home prepared...
  • including fish twice a week, once being an oily fish...

The menus are supported by recipes that limit fat, sugar and salt content. We also show how many portions of fruit and vegetables are contained within each dish as an aid towards the "five a day" campaign.

If you would like us to send you an example of one weeks menu please contact us.

With the shortening of lunch breaks across the country, the challenge is to ensure your pupils receive a nutritious meal in a very quick time. That's why this September we launched eat2go, a range of home-prepared grab and go items designed to replace bought in products such as burgers and processed poultry products.

Initially we have created recipes for 15 items including:

  • Lamb koftas with yoghurt and mint
  • Homemade chicken nuggets
  • Homemade pork burgers
  • Caramelised onion and tomato flatbread
